When are you open?

We are open from 9:00AM to 5:00PM, Monday to Friday.

Do I really have to print and send the form with my repair?

Yes, please! This will make it easier for both parties. We receive many parcels daily and if they arrive with no name, address or fault description, this can delay repairs. With your information and fault description, we can speed up your repair time.

How shall I send my item for repair?

Please make sure that your item is securely packed, with extra reinforcement covering any fragile plug, screen or corner. Please use enough bubble wrap or newspaper to make sure the item does not get damaged in the post. Sometimes we receive some very badly packed parcels where the item has been damaged during transit.

How long will my repair take?

Typically it will finish on the same day or the next day, so you won’t be too long without your unit. However, it depends on whether we have the parts and how busy we are.

Can I drive my car without my instrument cluster or airbag ECU?

We strongly suggest NOT to, unless you need to move your car in an emergency. Without the instrument cluster or airbag ECU, there is no way to monitor your speed, fuel level or engine temperature. The airbag may not deploy and the battery on your car may not charge. It is at your own risk and Speedotronics will not be responsible for any loss or damages if you choose to do so.

What parts do you use when replacing?

We use original or manufacturer-rated equivalent components that have a higher tolerance than the original ones. Sometimes old components can become obsolete. We stock most repair components.

Do I get a warranty for the repair work that you have done?

All works performed by our technicians come under warranty – 1 year on new clusters and exchanges, 90 days on all others.

How can I pay for my repair?

The quickest way to pay is by online banking or by cheque. You will get a full GST invoice.

How can I remove my unit?

You have two main options:

1) Call us and we can guide you through the process

2) If you’re unsure about removing the unit yourself, please take your car to a suitable workshop who will be able to remove your unit correctly.

What service do you use to send my parcel back?

Your item will be packed securely and sent by DHL the next day during normal working days (excluding public holidays and weekends).

Will the mileage upload to the cluster when I plug a new cluster in?

No, the mileage for each vehicle is held IN the cluster, so it will display the mileage of whatever vehicle it was removed from. If you require your mileage you may have to contact your dealer – you will need to provide model numbers, and the mileage can be given to you.

Note: Dodge, Jeep, Peugeot, BMW, Citroen from 2000 do have a backup of the mileage in the BCM (body control module). Some will upload but most will not. Please ask us about it.

Can you set my miles to a cluster I have bought somewhere else (i.e. Wreckers, internet, etc.)?

Yes, as long as the cluster you have purchased elsewhere is the same model or a model with a compatible cluster. You will be required to also present us with a completed and signed odometer statement.

Can you roll forward or back my miles?

If your mileage needs altering because of a malfunction or corruption, we can roll your mileage back or forward.
This will only be done after sighting a signed odometer statement by the owner of the vehicle. If you are looking to adjust the mileage for financial gain, we will not assist you, as it is odometer fraud and illegal in New Zealand.
